"Alpha and Omega" and "Due Date" Reviews!

Hey ya'll

Having a small trip up to Nottingham and watched 2 movies with Shin. So I'll write a short review for each!

First up:

Whoop whoop! Animation about talking wolves! Sounds exciting? No? Well you're probably right, lol.

The story is basically two childhood friends, Kate and Humphrey got separated and grew up with different livestyles. They meet again when they're older and Kate's become a top Alpha while Humphrey stayed at the bottom of the social order as an Omega. After one event where park rangers tranquilised them and sent them off to another park, they make their way back home to bring peace to their pack!

I saw this in 3D and there are some bits that are awesome, like roller coaster ride-like scenes and 3D made it really immersive~ The story is quite predictable at times, and there's nothing much other than pretty graphics and quite funny scenes at times. Oh there was a very.... disturbing scene where they started singing and dancing.... Won't reveal much other than that but it was very awkward.

Overall I'll give this movie a 3/5. Worth a watch when you want a light hearted movie ;)


Next off is,

Robert Downey Jr!!!!!!! I became a fan of his after the first Iron Man and probably seen a lot of his movies since then. His sarcastic look when he's mouthing off is brilliant!

Anyways, Due Date synopsis: Peter (Robert Downey Jr.) was going home to LA to see his wife and hoped to be there for the birth of his child when a series of events after meeting Ethan (Zach Galifianakis) and is forced to go on a road trip with him all the way home. On the way they are faced with situations with hilarious outcomes.

My two cents of this movie is that it was from the director of The Hangover. Now if you haven't watched that movie, then you should because that one is extremely funny! Anyhoo, this movie will keep you laughing almost throughout the movie. As all funny things go, it's not funny once you've heard it twice so just go watch the movie!

For this I rate 4/5. Definitely worth a watch with friends!

Royal China Review

Hey guys,

Can't sleep tonight so might as well do something useful to make myself tired huh? This post is gonna be a review of the Royal China restaurant in Queensway, London, a short walk down from Barbican tube station.

I went there yesterday for lunch because I've been watching too much of Cooking Master Boy and was craving for Chinese food. And I must say, the place impressed me with its ambience.

From outside it doesn't look like much but once you go in, you see that it is actually quite big. The walls are polished black with golden phoenix motif and the walls are squares of mirror-like tiles.

I ordered 3 things this time, Mixed seafood fried noodles, siumai (pork dumplings) and charsiu cheung fun. Overall the I found the food good, especially the fried noodles.

This is what the noodles look like. And yes first impression was it looks great! They definitely didn't skimp on the seafood. I felt like a food critic whilst being hungry and took my time to taste it.

• First of all the noodle I ordered was crispy, meaning it quickly soaked up the sauce. It itself is nothing special.
• The sauce was nice, not too salty and slightly sweet! Just right!
• The prawns are huge! They are cleaned more or less properly and was sweet to taste.
• The mange tout and carrots were crispy and sweet tasting, really liked it's crunchiness.
• The fish was nothing special. In fact it was quite tasteless, but the texture was smooth and felt fresh.
• Finally the scallops. All I can say is... I love the scallop. If you take the time to taste it, the taste just swarms every inch of your mouth. :O~

Next came the cheung fun. I don't know if you can see from the picture, but its fillings are charsiu (roast pork) and coriander. With the sauce, it tastes quite nice, the skin is smooth but tough enough.

Finally came the siumai! I love siumai, it's my favourite dimsum dish. Just thinking about it makes me hungry at 2am TTwTT... Anyway, the siumai here was nothing special although the pork and prawn combination were a little inconsistent. But, it was tender nonetheless and the taste was quite good.

When all was done, came the bill.. £18.80 for one person. LoL it was one of those days you feel like spoiling yourself. I can say it was money well spent for the quality you get and the place gets pretty busy during lunch time. Though the forced tips charged was kinda...

I'd give Royal China a 4 out of 5 for this experience. Although this was my first time going, I would recommend Royal China to anyone who likes Chinese food and wants to treat themselves a bit. The price for the food is typical for a restaurant like this. The service is alright, at least the staff smile at you at times and asks you if you want anything else and such lol.

Frustration rant

Hey guys,

Nothing much to do so I'll rant about what a crappy day I've had.

First of all I tried for quite a while to find a place in London which sells the manga "Gundam Seed Astray" and came up with F all, pic related. Found it on Amazon but the third volume is over 10 freaking pounds, what's up with that? Milking the fanbase? Anyways I've given up for now for sanity sake also because of...........

Having a freaking lab practical this afternoon. Was not the way I'd expect to do a practical. Everything felt so disorganised, and I screwed up big time with not checking the damn mixer pellet was working perfectly ended up with shit toilet paper ass wipe data -__-. And 3 people working at once is overkill. Not interested in threesome, just give me one partner it'll be fine, I'll get results, lower error rate though I can't promise that now...

Felt stuffy, it was raining but not, wtf is with London weather, if you want to rain then just freaking RAIN, NOT "hey lets use the spray rather than a hose this time".

Best part of today was the fact that I came home and took a shower. That is very sad indeed. Defo not the best day ever.

Birthday update~

Hey guys,

Last Saturday, 30/10/2010, was spent with my sis and Shin for my birthday. Was a great day, it was sunny, Brunei Hall served some awesome food for lunch (well most food are awesome when compared to my hall…), watched The Social Network, webcammed with mum and finally went for dinner at Four Seasons.

Shin brought her share of present too :S a fabulous cake even though I asked her not to, and a card. I was happy she did lol. The hoodie in my previous post was a present from her too. <3

Except there was once we came to a hiccup in cutting it haha.

So we decided to take the chocolate top off and cut it separately otherwise the cake might’ve been ruined lol.

The cake was delicious regardless, Shin knows I love berries so she jammed blueberries, raspberries and strawberries into it hoho.

Dinner at Four Seasons!

Four Seasons was awesome as usual I guess, roast duck still lives up to its name of best in London, and we ordered a whole steamed sea bass and kai lan (some sort of vegetable which I have no idea what it is but it tastes nice) oh and we had soup. Fish maw soup was awesome O: it was brimming with ingredients and for the price of £5.20 per bowl, I was hoping for that. The total bill came up to £74.00 which at that time didn’t look that expensive to me Lol.
