Hey guys!
Today I just formatted my computer and installed the Windows 7 Professional OS onto it. I must say I'm loving the lack of lag that was plaguing my Vista. However, Taking almost the whole afternoon, evening, night and now the unholy hours of morning, I was trying to piece my laptop back together again and problems arose.
First of all, my webcam lacked a proper driver! (It was installed as some USB webcam thing) and secondly, the Mass Storage Controller also lacked a driver thus failing to install completely!
I just want to share the fruits of my extensive internet combing and hopefully these will help you if your search landed you here! My laptop model is the Sony Vaio VGN-CR353.
This is a link to multiple driver downloads, just scroll to about 3/4 ways down and you'll see the camera driver. Installing it allowed use of my "Sony Visual Communication Camera VGP-VCC6".
http://www.laptop-driver.net/sony-vaio-vgncr363-drivers/
This is the link for the Mass Storage Controller. It comes with 32 and 64-bit installs. Just copy the link into your browser. Installed is the "Texas Instruments PCIxx12 Integrated FlashMedia Controller"
download.xanderx.com/software/windows/driver/CardReader_V.zip
Hope this helps someone somewhere who is in the same bind that I was.
Do comment and tell me if it did.

Hi,
ReplyDeleteI had the same problem as yours. I successfully installed the camera but my problem now is that I couldn't find the camera. I want to adjust or change some settings in the camera. Hope you could help me. Thanks...
Hi Johalia,
ReplyDeleteI think your webcam can be configured using the program you want to use the webcam with. e.g. You can change the settings for it on MSN messenger and so on.
Hope this helps.
Hi,
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot buddy.. Your Blog helped me in resolving the issue.
Regards,
Bharat Pujari
Hi Bharat,
ReplyDeleteI'm glad it helped! Thanks for your comment :)
The Webcam drivers don't work for 64-bit...
ReplyDeleteYeah I suppose that particular driver I found was for my 32-bit. It was only by chance the Mass Storage Controller came with 64-bit :)

Hey ya Roy!
ReplyDeleteShutting down randomly? That is really strange... I've never experience such a thing before other than the time I tried to run a high spec game on it and it blue screened and restarted.
Did your CR353 do that when you got it? Or it started after you installed something or is it from with age?
I HAVE SONY VAIO CR353 FEW DAYS BACK I INSTALLED WINDOWS 7 ULTIMATE (SERVICE PACK 1)32 BIT , BUT NOW MY CAMERA UTILITY IS NOT WORKING AT ALL..PLEASE HELP.IF I NEED DRIVERS FOR IT THEN HOW AND WHERE I COULD GET IT..PLEASE HELP

ReplyDeleteI am facing the exact same problem as you have mentioned - cr353 keeps shutting down randomly. I have read your posts on other forums as well and I must say it is identical - the laptop always heated a lot but this problem started after I installed Windows 7. Just wondering if you were able to find a solution? Please share any information you have. Your help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Sha

Hi,
ReplyDeleteIf you've downloaded this: http://download.sony-asia.com/vaio/downloads/Original_Drivers/073Q/VGN-CR3/drivers/Camera.EXE
Then it should work as I, myself have installed it and the camera works fine. Don't worry about it saying working for Vista. Hope it helps.

Hi Kumar,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment! :D I think that problem should be fixed from within the settings. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to solve that as I have not encountered this problem after installing the drivers.
